To prepare the seedbed, the Meeker Smoothing Harrow from The C.O. Jelliff Mfg. Corp. did the trick in 1927. This ad that ran in the January issue of American Produce Grower claims the harrow did the work of 12 men. Today’s harrows are a bit more complex, with some available in sizes up to 28 feet, with bars equipped with steel teeth.
